President: Respect for the entire volunteer movement

http://www.kmu.gov.ua/img/1x1.gifPresident Petro Poroshenko underlined the unique role of volunteers in the development of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. “Our victory would have been impossible if it hadn’t been for volunteers and the entire Ukrainian nation. Low bow and respect for the entire volunteer movement,” the Head of State noted at the session of the National Council of Reforms.

According to the President, volunteers were the first to launch reforms in the state authorities. First of all, it was demonstrated in the Ministry of Defense. “Volunteer troops have been ensuring efficient functioning of state bodies, struggle against corruption, use of public funds and transparency of processes. Excuse me for the words taken out of context and spread in social networks,” the President said.

Tomorrow, Ukraine will celebrate the International Volunteer Day, as stated by the President. He called the volunteer movement a “unique phenomenon of Ukraine”. According to the Head of State, 80% of Ukrainians have been volunteers: “Some people donated last kopecks in support of the army. Somebody went to the front to provide everything necessary for the newly formed army. Somebody entered the ranks of the AFU voluntarily”.

“One of the main achievements of the last year is that we’ve managed to defend our sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity,” Petro Poroshenko emphasized.
