The European Commission has
granted ten Ukrainian dairy producers access to the EU market effective from
January 10, 2016, Ukraine's Deputy Agrarian Policy Minister Vladyslava
Rutytska reported on Facebook.
"The European Commission
published its decision to include our companies specializing in milk production
and dairy products processing in the official list of approved EU exporters.
The resolution comes into force on January 10, 2016," Rutytska wrote.
The list of companies authorized
to export dairy products to the EU includes enterprises of Milk Alliance Group
(Yagotynsky Butter Plant and Zolotonisky Butter-Processing Integrated Works),
Lactalis (Lactalis-Mykolaiv and LLC Molochniy Dim), Milkiland (Nedryhailivskyi
Cheese Plant and Romny Dairy Combine Subsidiary of Ros Private Enterprise,
Menskiy Cheese Subsidiary of Prometei Private Enterprise), Loostdorf Company,
Lviv Cold Storage Facility and Gadyachsyr.
As UNIAN reported earlier, in
April 2015, the Food and Veterinary Office (FVO) within the European Commission
published the final report with the outcome of the last autumn's visit of a
mission by the FVO inspectors on the the Ukrainian dairy products quality
verification. Preliminary export permits were issued to ten Ukrainian dairy
producers in early December.
Ukraine requests the EU to
increase export quotas and facilitate access to the European market for
Ukrainian producers. Experts say the main factors curbing the export of
Ukrainian dairy products to the EU are low quality of raw materials and high
prices. The launch of new sales markets is said to help offset the damage
caused due to a loss of the Russian market, which previously accounted for 90%
of Ukrainian dairy exports.
