Deregulation in agricultural sector is priority task for the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Ukraine for 2016

“Reforming of the agricultural industry should be continued in 2016. Deregulation is the way to fight corruption in the agricultural sector,” Oleh Protsenko, the reforms project manager of the National Council of Reforms in the agriculture sector, says.
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine received a clear message from farmers that there was a need to continue the simplification of the business environment and the development of clear “rules for the “game” in the agrarian market.

“The effective and systematic deregulation in the agricultural sector enables us to solve a number of problems at once,” Oleh Protsenko particularly notes. “Thus, we can simplify the business environment for farmers, removing the unnecessary permits and paperwork, and to reduce the level of corruption. There will be less room for direct contacts with public officials, thus creating the conditions to avoid corruption risks.”
By now the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine has established active cooperate with the public to develop common approaches to the long-term development of the industry, with the stakeholders’ in the agrarian market opinion being taken into account.
“Today, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and the public organization  Agro.ReformsUA, which has set the deregulation as a priority area of work, have set a list of deregulation initiates in close cooperation with farmers”, Oleh Protsenko noted. “At the beginning of 2016, it will be finally agreed with farmers and professional associations, and submitted for consideration to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.”
The following year is expected to see the continued deregulation and cooperation with the public and farmers in the regions.
