Law “On condemnation of communist and national-socialist (Nazi) totalitarian regimes in Ukraine and prohibition of propaganda of their symbols”

Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopts Law “On condemnation of communist and national-socialist (Nazi) totalitarian regimes in Ukraine and prohibition of propaganda of their symbols”


The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine “in order to prevent from possible further repeating of offences of communist and national-socialist (Nazi) totalitarian regimes, any national, social, class-based, ethnic, racial or other discrimination in the future, restoration of historical and social justice, elimination of threat to independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and national security of Ukraine, adopts this Law that condemns communist and national-socialist (Nazi) totalitarian regimes in Ukraine, sets legal fundamentals for prohibition of propaganda of their symbols and sets order of liquidation of symbols of communist totalitarian regime.”

The Law also introduces respective amendments into the Laws of Ukraine “On political parties in Ukraine,” “On non-government organizations,” “On printed media organizations (the press) in Ukraine,” “On news agencies,” “On television and radio broadcasting,” “On state registration of legal entities and individual entrepreneurs,” “On provision of legal entities and ownership facilities with names (nicknames) of individuals, jubilee and festive dates, names and dates of historical events,” “On information,” “On protection of rights to trademarks,” “On local self-government in Ukraine,” “On local state administrations,” “On geographical names,” “On election of people's deputies of Ukraine,” “On election of President of Ukraine,” “On election of deputies of Supreme Council of Autonomous Republic of Crimea, local councils and village, town, city mayors,” and into the Penal Code of Ukraine.
