09 April, 2015 - The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the Law "On Access to the archives of repressive organs of the communist totalitarian regime 1917 - 1991 years"
The law provides for ensuring openness archival information repressive organs of the communist totalitarian regime 1917-1991 years, the creation of mechanisms for implementation of the right of everyone to have access to such information through the archive: definition of repressive organs of the communist totalitarian regime 1917-1991 years, certain modes of access to the specified archive information, the establishment of exclusive list of reasons to restrict access to such historical information, the establishment of liability for unreasonable classification of a historical information to restricted information, its failure, improper denial of incomplete provision of historical information, and the like.
The law also provides for the transfer of documents and other media archive information repressive organs of the communist totalitarian regime in 1917-1991 years of industry-specific State Archives Ukrainian Institute of National Memory of the archival units of modern law enforcement and intelligence agencies of Ukraine to release the last of the implementation of contingency legislation of Ukraine functions.
