Ukraine and Iran have agreed to strengthen cooperation in trade, economic, humanitarian and social spheres.

Tehran, March 7. Strengthening economic ties between the countries in Memorandum, signed today as the results of the fifth session of the Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Iranian Joint Commission on Economic and Trade Cooperation.

Ukrainian part of the commission headed by Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Volodymyr Demchyshyn Iranian part - Minister of Agricultural Jihad of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr. Mahmoud Hodzhati.

The Memorandum states the need for further development of economic relations in agriculture, investment, banking and finance, cooperation in the fields of industry and mining. Also referred to intensify efforts in the oil, gas, petrochemicals, nuclear and hydropower, energy efficiency and renewable energy. Another point also refers to strengthening cooperation in the field of cultural heritage, cultural and artistic activities, tourism, higher education, health and sports.


Particular attention in the document given to potential cooperation projects:

- The areas of agriculture, both sides expressed their interest in expanding and increasing trade in agriculture.

- Aeronautics and aviation industry. It is about strengthening cooperation in the field of civil aviation, including the design and production of new versions of AN-140-100 airplane deliveries of non-military civilian transport aircraft An-178 as well as the cooperation of both countries in the field of marketing and sales of passenger aircraft An-158 in Iran and the region.

- Energy. The parties agreed to intensify work on a number of priority areas including modernization of refineries worn Ukraine, participation in oil and gas projects in Iran, scientific and practical cooperation on improving nuclear safety in the framework of the IAEA and the World Association of Nuclear Operators
