Ukraine celebrates Europe Day on May 21-22

A series of events take place on Kyiv's Mykhailivska Square to celebrate Europe Day on May 21-22.

The opening ceremony is attended by state and city officials, the head of the E.U. Delegation in Ukraine, and representatives of embassies of E.U. member states. During the weekend, Kyiv's residents and guests can enjoy the festive programme.

Representatives of European countries will present a variety of interactive and creative projects prepared by embassies and national cultural centres, including a chess game with European champion Veronica Veremyuk.
The programme also includes the festival Street Music Day, which will bring together musical groups of different styles from Europe and Ukraine.
Ukrainian athletes will present spectacular performances demonstrating their talents in street sports and outdoor activities (workout, parkour, roller, TRX). The festival Food Truck Days will treat guests to dishes of different cuisines as well as delicacies cooked by creative chefs.
Famous Ukrainian electronic band ONUKA's performance will crown the late night celebrations. Further on, visitors will be able to watch silent movies on a big screen, accompanied by music.

On Sunday, May 22, the celebrations will continue across the capital. A send-off ceremony for the national football team participating in participating in the UEFA European Championship 2016 in France will take place at noon in central Kyiv.
