Speculation about the talks between Ukraine and the International Monetary Fund is a fake and an attempt to jeopardize the economic stability of the country

The released by certain politicians so-called Draft Memorandum of cooperation with the International Monetary Fund appears not to be a real document and meant to be promulgated with the only purpose to discredit the cooperation of Ukraine with the IMF and to endanger the economic stability of the country. This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman during his communication with media people at JSCIlyich Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol in Donetsk region on Monday, May 30.

"I do not understand at all who published and what. Moreover, there are no signatures in it [document –ed.]. I believe that this is an attempt to discredit our collaboration with the International Monetary Fund. I believe that this is an attempt to place in jeopardy the economic stability in our country and I consider it complete recklessness. No such document exists", said Volodymyr Groysman.
"When such Memorandum is drafted, we will shape it to take into account structural reforms to be carried out, aftermath we will appeal to the society and will be honest to announce what is planned to be done, how, what timeframes are fixed", emphasized the Prime Minister.
Volodymyr Groysman stressed that cooperation with the International Monetary Fund provides an opportunity for launch of structural reforms in Ukraine.
According to him, the task of the Government is to ensure growth of the national economy, while in the public finance area to eliminate spendthrifting. Apart from that, it is crucial to create a quality healthcare system, education system and to secure social justice within the country.
"The Government has two objectives – boost of the economy, that’s job security, sustainable payment of wages, the stability of the national currency. However, on the other hand, improving the performance of the national economy will enable us to provide social justice," he stressed.
Volodymyr Groysman noted that Ukraine should transfer from a commodity economy to become a country with an economy with high added value. In particular, according to him, Ukraine has promising sectors, such as IT-industry, agricultural area, steel industry. "The Government will do its utmost to develop production in all domains, to promote restrictions and controls to be deleted," he said.
"We should develop the national economy, instead of scaring people with a document that does not exist", urged the Prime Minister.
In the framework of the working trip to Donetsk region Volodymyr Groysman got familiarized with the work of JSC Ilyich Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol, in particular with operation and progress of reconstruction of gas equipment at the sintering plant and operation of the converter plant. The Prime Minister also talked to the staff of the enterprise.
