The “roadmap” of dialogue between the leaders of Ukraine and Poland has been agreed

President Petro Poroshenko had a meeting with Special Envoy of the President of Poland, Secretary of State at the President's Chancellery Krzysztof Szczersky.

The Head of State expressed gratitude to Poland for immutable active position and solidarity in the protection of Ukraine’s interests on the international arena, particularly on the track of European integration.

The President emphasized the potential and importance of developing relations between the countries. Ukraine pays special attention to the enhancement of military-technical cooperation, inter alia, in the framework of the Ukrainian-Polish-Lithuanian brigade.

In the course of the meeting, the immutability of the Polish President’s position on the continuation of strategic partnership between the countries has been confirmed.

The parties discussed the “roadmap” of contacts between the leaders of Ukraine and Poland. The Head of State invited President of Poland Andrzej Duda to make a visit to Ukraine. “The development of our relations will make our countries stronger and increase the level of trust,” Petro Poroshenko said.

The parties exchanged views on the present situation in Donbas. The Ukrainian President informed that the ceasefire regime had been observed for 6 days already, which “provides a fragile hope for the peaceful development of process”. The parties emphasized the importance of united efforts of the international community for the establishment of peace in Ukraine and preservation of security in Europe.

“Mr. Duda assured that one of the key tasks of the foreign policy is the achievement of peace and security in the region. In this context, the developments in Ukraine are of crucial importance,” Secretary of State at the President's Chancellery Krzysztof Szczersky noted.

In the course of the meeting, the parties emphasized the destructive nature of separatists’ intention to hold illegal local elections in certain areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions that disrupt the Minsk process.

Also, the parties touched upon the progress of the constitutional reform in Ukraine, particularly in the sphere of decentralization. The President stressed that the decentralization reform is based on the Polish model.

Petro Poroshenko expressed gratefulness for the warm greetings conveyed by President Andrzej Duda to the President of Ukraine and the Ukrainian nation on the occasion of the Independence Day of Ukraine.
