Dutch MPs suspect "Russian trace" in referendum on Association with Ukraine

Dutch lawmakers from the D-66 party have requested the Foreign Affairs Ministry of the Netherlands to clarify if there is any indication of Russia's influence on the upcoming referendum on the Association Agreement with Ukraine,  MP Kees Verhoeven wrote on Twitter.

"Are there any indications that the forthcoming referendum on the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU could in any way, including financially, be influenced by Russia?" reads the enquiry.

According to Verhoeven, the corresponding request was submitted in connection with an article in a British newspaper The Telegraph that reported, citing sources, about a major investigation of American intelligence agencies into how the Kremlin is infiltrating political parties in Europe.

As UNIAN reported earlier, a referendum on the approval of the Association Agreement between the European Union and Ukraine will be held in the Netherlands on April 6, 2016. The referendum question will be: "Are you for or against the Approval Act of the Association Agreement between the European Union and Ukraine?"
