President signed "visa-free" laws: Visa-free regime is another degree of freedom

The President signed a package of laws that ensure liberalization of the visa-free regime for Ukraine by the EU.

In the course of signing, the President expressed hope that on December 15, the European Commission would make a decision to provide a green light for Ukraine on the issue of the visa-free regime.

According to the Head of State, "these laws are a stride towards the protection of human rights and struggle against corruption". Petro Poroshenko stressed that the visa-free regime was another degree of freedom.

The President called the visa-free regime an important element of partnership and our European integration policy. He added that the plan on the implementation of the visa-free regime was very tense.

The President noted that the ratification of the Association Agreement by the EU countries had been completed in 1.5 years instead of 3-4 years.

The Head of State congratulated Ukraine and Ukrainians on the wise decision the Parliament has made having adopted those laws. He also thanked Minster of Foreign Affairs Pavlo Klimkin, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs Hanna Hopko, Chairman of the Committee for European Integration Iryna Gerashchenko and Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Kostiantyn Yelisieiev for their work.

The President is hopeful that the rest of the laws would be submitted for his signature in a few days and "there will be only implementation left".

Chairman of the Committee for European Integration Iryna Gerashchenko informed that the Parliament would consider in the second reading the draft laws on migration policy under the action plan for the liberalization of the visa regime, as well as the draft laws on identity cards. The MP expressed hope for their successful adoption.

Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs Hanna Hopko is hopeful that respective "visa-free" laws would be successfully implemented.
