The President signed a package of laws that ensure
liberalization of the visa-free regime for Ukraine by the EU.
In the
course of signing, the President expressed hope that on December 15, the
European Commission would make a decision to provide a green light for Ukraine
on the issue of the visa-free regime.
According to the Head of State,
"these laws are a stride towards the protection of human rights and
struggle against corruption". Petro Poroshenko stressed that the visa-free
regime was another degree of freedom.
The
President called the visa-free regime an important element of partnership and
our European integration policy. He added that the plan on the implementation
of the visa-free regime was very tense.
The
President noted that the ratification of the Association Agreement by the EU
countries had been completed in 1.5 years instead of 3-4 years.
The Head of
State congratulated Ukraine and Ukrainians on the wise decision the Parliament
has made having adopted those laws. He also thanked Minster of Foreign Affairs
Pavlo Klimkin, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs Hanna Hopko,
Chairman of the Committee for European Integration Iryna Gerashchenko and
Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Kostiantyn Yelisieiev for their
work.
The
President is hopeful that the rest of the laws would be submitted for his
signature in a few days and "there will be only implementation left".
Chairman of
the Committee for European Integration Iryna Gerashchenko informed that the
Parliament would consider in the second reading the draft laws on migration
policy under the action plan for the liberalization of the visa regime, as well
as the draft laws on identity cards. The MP expressed hope for their successful
adoption.
Chairman of
the Committee on Foreign Affairs Hanna Hopko is hopeful that respective
"visa-free" laws would be successfully implemented.
