Ukraine's Audit Chamber reports 13% decline in GDP in nine months

The Ukrainian Audit Chamber, which audits the execution of the national budget, announces that GDP in Ukraine declined by 13% January through September 2015.

As the national budget for 2015 is based on a 5.5% GDP decline forecast, the Chamber said in its conclusions on the 2015 budget that real GDP in the nine months of 2015 shrank by 2.4 times from the annual indicator expected this year.

The Ukrainian State Statistics Service earlier reported that Ukraine saw a 7% decline in GDP in the third quarter of 2015 compared to 14.6% in the same period of 2014 (in comparable prices for 2010).

GDP in the third quarter of 2015 even climbed by 0.7% compared to the second quarter of 2015, which was due to the seasonal factor.

GDP declined by 6.8% in 2014 from 2013 (in comparable prices for 2010). The statistics do not include data from the annexed Crimea and occupied Donbas.

Ukraine's nominal GDP in 2014 was estimated at UAH 1.567 trillion.
