Six More Years of Putin
Vladimir Putin has now ruled Russia as president or prime minister for all the 21st century — longer than anyone in the past 100 years except Stalin. When he completes his fourth term in six years’ time, he will have left a significant imprint on his country and on the world. In the early years, that was seen to be generally benign: at home he presided over a rapidly rising standard of living, an end to lawlessness on the streets and a semblance of stability after the traumatic collapse of communism.
