European experts will be involved in the investigation into the deaths of people in Trade Union House in Odesa on May 2, 2014, Ukraine's Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko said.
"Tomorrow at 10:00 a.m., I am meeting with UN representatives who promise to involve European experts in a joint evaluation which will determine the cause of death of a majority of those who were unable to leave Trade Union House," Lutsenko said at a briefing in Odesa on Thursday.
Lutsenko cited progress in the investigation into the 'May 2 case' in Odesa, adding that "everyone who breached the law, which led to the bloodshed, should be held responsible."
"Without the truth in the May 2, 2014 case, this wound will spoil the life of the people of Odesa and those who love this city. I believe that the progress that has been reached is very important. There is also progress in the case involving the events that occurred on Hrestka Street, and a lot of progress has been made on the most tragic events in Trade Union House," he said.
According to earlier reports, 48 people were killed and over 200 were wounded in the riots that occurred in Odesa on May 2, 2014. Most victims were killed in Trade Union House. Investigators have determined that the riots in Odesa were organized and deliberately planned.
