Chairman of the
Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andrii Parubii met with delegation of House of
Representatives of Congress of USA headed by Chairman of the Commission
"Partnership for Democracy" Peter Roskamom
Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada thanked for support of
Ukraine from the US, for efforts exerted to help our country. "This
support is especially important for us at hard times when both
reform and security of the country are in the foreground," - said Parubii.
The parties discussed the progress of reforms in
Ukraine, the situation in the ATO zone and the development of partnerships.
Parubii informed about the adoption by the Verkhovna
Rada of Ukraine of draft laws which provide for changes to the
Constitution in terms of judicial processing, the laws aimed at strengthening
cooperation with the IMF and the laws of social trend. He underlined that
nowadays Parliament is preparing to review and approval of the draft amendments
to the Rules of the Verkhovna Rada , that, in turn, will improve the
legislative process and become an important tool of reforms.
Speaking about the priorities of the the Verkhovna
Rada Parubii stressed on the need to improve electoral legislation.
"As for me, the electoral reform is a very important matter, because a
system that is now has collected all the negatives," - he said,
noting that its implementation is not realistic before autumn.
Representatives of Congress of USA noted the
progress in Ukraine. They declared their commitment to cooperation with Ukraine
and supported the importance of continuing sanctions against Russia.
