Ukrainian companies receive the opportunity of duty-free exports to the U.S.

Ukrainian entrepreneurs receive the opportunity of duty-free exports to the United States of about 5,000 types of products since the end of July. Such opportunities Ukraine has received under the renewal of the program of the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) of the United States, which will run from 29 July 2015 to 31 December 2017.

The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine explains that the GSP program concerns the most common products: a large number of types of chemicals, minerals and building stone, jewelry, many types of carpets and certain products of agriculture and fishing.

However, officials point out that for taking advantage of duty-free treatment in the United States GSP system, Ukraine has to demonstrate the existence of effective protection of intellectual property and labor rights, while Ukrainian companies have to meet the rules of products’ origin.
