Law on lifting a moratorium on the forced sale of assets of companies in which the state holds at least 25% to clear these companies' gas debts to the national energy company Naftogaz Ukrainy and its subsidiaries will come into forces on July 26.
The document has been published in Holos Ukrainy newspaper today so on July 26 it will come into force.
The day earlier Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has signed into law a respective bill.
Hence, the law is aimed at stabilizing Naftogaz's financial condition, the aggregate debts of which amount to UAH 6 billion.
It was reported earlier that the Verkhovna Rada had passed a bill lifting the moratorium on the forced sale of assets of companies in which the state holds at least 25% to clear these companies' gas debts to Naftogaz Ukrainy and its subsidiaries on July 16.
While the document was being prepared for the second reading, an amendment was made to it, under which assets of companies whose privatization is prohibited cannot be sold this way.
