Major arms exports by Ukraine in 2014 totaled $664 million, according to Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), meaning the country is the 10th biggest arms exporter in the world, according to the SIPRI international arms transfers database.
According to the European experts, in 2014 Ukraine exported 6.8% less weapons compared to 2013 ($708 million), when the country was also 10th in the ranking.
According to SIPRI, among largest importers of Ukrainian weapons in 2014 were China (19.8%), Thailand (22.6%) and Russia (23.34%, the ban on exporting weapons to Russia was imposed in June 2014).
The top three leaders in arms exports were the United States with exports worth $10.194 billion, Russia with exports worth $5.971 billion, and France with $1.978 billion. The top ten includes UK with $1.704 billion, Germany with $1.2 billion, Spain with $1.11 billion, China with $1.083 billion, Israel with $824 million, and Italy with $786 million.
Ukroboronprom Concern did not publish official data on the results of the operations of Ukrainian special exporters in 2014.
Ukraine currently cooperates with about 100 countries in military and defense sector, and exports of weapons and special services are assessed as being worth around $1 billion over the past few years.
