During the German occupation of Ukraine was destroyed more than 670 settlements in 16 regions of Ukraine and today the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. The victims of this kind of counter-insurgency operations were at least 50,828 killed.
1-2 March 1943, the Nazis in the village Koryukovka (Chernihiv region), the Nazis killed 6,700 people, 1,290 homes burned - is the largest settlement in Europe, completely destroyed by the Nazis as part of punitive action during World War II.
For comparison, other famous burning of settlements: Lidice in the Czech Republic (June 10, 1942 in the village were killed or tortured to death in a concentration camp 320), Khatyn in Belarus (March 22, 1943 in the village of 149 people killed), Oradour-sur-Glane in France (10 June 1944 destroyed in the village of 642 people).
"1377 burned alive" - so the film about the Ukrainian villages burned by the Nazis during the Second World War.
