Political provisions of the Minsk agreements can be implemented only after the undeniable progress in their security component, as stated by President Petro Poroshenko in the course of the working trip to Ivano-Frankivsk region.
“Elections under Russian muzzles and with their soldiers around polling stations are totally inadmissible and impossible,” Petro Poroshenko noted.
The Head of State emphasizes that such position is backed by the partners of Ukraine, as stated by them during a “spontaneous discussion of the recent days”. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin will deliver the same position at the meeting of the Foreign Ministers in the Normandy format next week, as stated by Petro Poroshenko.
The President has once again emphasized – Ukraine has complied and will comply with the Minsk agreements and will do everything possible for the de-escalation of the situation until full ceasefire. “Today, this approach has no alternatives on the path towards restoration of peace and territorial integrity,” he said.
Petro Poroshenko urged not to believe those who builds a political career “criticizing the Minsk agreements”. For these agreements have given Ukraine time and opportunities to reinforce the army.
According to the Head of State, information about the ban for the Ukrainian army to open fire in response to the shelling of militants is false.
At the same time, the President noted that militants and the country-invader are totally responsible for the escalation. “I reject any attempts to make Ukraine responsible for the escalation on the frontline. Moscow is trying to share this responsibility with Kyiv. We will not allow that,” he said.
“Beyond any doubt, our actions are forced defense. They have been a cure from the fits of aggression of the Russian terrorist groups,” Petro Poroshenko emphasized.
According to the President, Ukraine can prove all the facts about the initiators of shelling. It has records of intercepted negotiations of militants and its NATO partners have satellite images with clearly documented facts of shelling.
