Ukraine could meet EU standards in 10 years to join EU

Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman has said that Ukraine could meet the standards required to submit an application to join the European Union (EU) in 10 years.
"No doubt we see that time when we submit the application for EU membership will arrive. Nevertheless we understand that we should make our homework first and in the period of 10 years – if we carry out it quickly – we will be able to meet the standards which will help us to submit the membership application. It requires a lot of hard work. We must strictly stick to our action plan. Then we will be able to speak about membership," he said at the conference entitled "Cheering and Steering: Ukraine Reforms Reloaded" in Brussels on Thursday.

Groysman said that Ukrainian society has decided to focus on European integration and the reforms being conducted in the country have this goal.
He said that Ukraine faces Russian aggression aimed not only the country, but also general European democratic values.
"If we fight for Ukraine, we fight for democratic and civilized world. We fight for values," the prime minister said.
