Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman on
Friday met with Advisor to the Emir of Qatar for Cultural Affairs Dr. Hamad Bin Abdulaziz Al-Kawari.
The sides discussed practical
measures of deepening cooperation between Ukraine and Qatar in various fields.
In particular, the Head of
Government stressed that the bilateral trade turnover between the states does
not match the potential of the countries and has to enhance.
Ukraine in the near future is
expecting a delegation of business representatives from Qatar, and planning to
discuss in particular the issues of expansion of investment opportunities.
During the meeting the parties
also talked over the exchange of visits of Prime Ministers of the two countries
aimed to enhance partnership between Ukraine and Qatar in trade, economic and
financial spheres.
The Prime Minister thanked
Qatar for its support in the UN framework during consideration of the Ukrainian
issue, in particular a resolution "Territorial Integrity of Ukraine"
adopted by the UN General Assembly on 27 March 2014, as well as "The
Situation of human rights in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of
Sevastopol" adopted on 15 November 2016.
Focusing on cooperation
between the two countries in the humanitarian sphere, in particular in the
framework of UNESCO, the Ukrainian side expressed its readiness to consider the
candidacy of the Qatari side to the post of the UNESCO Director-General. "Ukraine
is responsibly considering Your candidacy given the high level of
partnership relations between our countries", said Volodymyr Groysman.
