President Petro Poroshenko emphasizes the importance of creation of the museum in the Memorial complex of the victims of Holodomor - genocide of Ukrainians.
President Petro Poroshenko reminded that in 2007, the Memorial complex of remembrance of the Holodomor victims had been established. It has become the place of pilgrimage of many Ukrainians. “However, the museum that meets the best global samples of museum-memorial art has not been built yet. I am confident that we must begin the establishment of decent museum institution,” the Head of State said on the Day of Remembrance of the Holodomor victims in Ukraine.
The President is confident that this matter should involve non-governmental circles as well - representatives of Ukrainian business, Ukrainian and global community.
“Crimes against humanity do not have statute of limitations. Organizers of Holodomor cannot be punished due to objective reasons, but I believe they burn in hellfire. And we must fulfill our sacred duty to the memory of millions of Ukrainians tortured by famine - we must save Ukraine. Single, united, independent Ukraine,” Petro Poroshenko said.
The President emphasizes he feels responsibility for preservation of independence and unity of Ukraine - “not only to the present generation, but also to millions of those looking at us from the sky”. According to him, unbroken unity of Ukrainians will be the precondition of our victory.
Petro Poroshenko reminded that soon there would be 10 years since parliamentary adoption of the law, which recognizes Holodomor of 1932-33 genocide. “The overwhelming majority of Ukrainians supports such an assessment of those tragic events. Dozens of countries in the world qualify this crime of totalitarian regime as genocide,” the President said adding that he had voted for that law as well when being people’s deputy.
