Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has enacted the National Security and Defense Council's decision to apply special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions) against several Russian individuals.
The specific order is published on the Ukrainian president's website on Monday.
Under the document, the National Security and Defense Council's decision dated September 16 envisages a proposal to extend and enforce special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions) against Russian individuals presented by the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers (the resolution dated August 31, 2016), the Ukrainian Security Service and the National Bank of Ukraine.
The sanctions against individuals and legal entities will apply for one year, according to the National Security and Defense Council's decision.
Last year's sanctions list included an additional 335 individuals and 167 legal entities, whose identification data were subject to additional checks, a spokesperson for Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council said on Monday.
"On September 16, 2016, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine held a meeting that extended the sanctions against all of the individuals (save those who deceased) and legal entities, in place since September 16, 2015. At the meeting, it was also resolved to extend the list of persons against whom personal restrictive measures (sanctions) must be introduced," the spokesperson said.
The Ukrainian president additionally instructed to draft a separate decision on restrictive measures (sanctions) against persons involved in the conduct of Russian State Duma elections on Crimean territory, this concerns both deputies and members of electoral commissions, according to the National Security and Defense Council.
A decision on this list of individuals will be publicized in the nearest future, it said.
