Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has congratulated experts of the Kyiv-based government-run Luch Design Bureau which is part of the Ukroboronprom state concern on the successful test of a new guided missile for multiple launch rocket systems.
"I congratulate the Luch Bureau on the successful test of a new guided missile model!" the president said in a statement posted on his Facebook page on Friday.
Poroshenko noted that over two years Ukrainian military have received dozens of samples of new weapons and equipment.
"And we are only at the beginning of the process of technical modernization of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This is only the beginning!" Poroshenko added.
A short video is attached to this post which shows in slow motion a launch of a missile of the multiple rocket system, presumably Smerch.
As reported, on March 22, 2016, Turchynov has announced the successful test of the Ukrainian-produced missile. "We began to test Ukrainian-produced missiles. Today's launch has shown that our rocket completely fulfilled its scheduled tasks and hit the intended target," he said adding that the development of a new domestic-produced missile comes as part of the program of restoration of Ukraine's missile shield. He also said that this was not the only missile program, on which Ukrainian scientists and defense industry are working.
