President of Ukraine met with U.S. Secretary of Commerce




President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko had a meeting with U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker who is on a working visit to Ukraine as head of the U.S. delegation at the events on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Babyn Yar tragedy.
The Head of State thanked the U.S. Secretary of Commerce for supporting Ukraine in the protection of sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as financial and technical assistance in the reforms.

“Recent decision on the allocation of loan guarantees from the U.S. Government is a recognition of our achievements, just as the decision of the IMF on the allocation of another tranche,” Petro Poroshenko emphasized adding that “it is a substantial financial support for our reforms”.
The President welcomed the plans of prominent American corporations “Cargill”, “Bunge” and “General Electric” to increase investments in Ukraine. He also invited the American companies to join the National Investment Council.
Speaking of her third visit to Ukraine in the last two years, the U.S. Secretary of Commerce noted: “Every time I am reminded of your extraordinary efforts and tremendous potential of Ukraine. Having started key economic reforms two years ago, your country has continued the implementation of crucial IMF program for securing financial aid not only from IMF, but also from the United States. You have created institutions to ensure the rule of law and struggle against corruption. 
You have improved public procurement and ensured transparent asset declaration of civil servants”.
At the same time, she noted that there was still much to be done and the United States was ready to further assist Ukraine in the reforms.
Speaking of the provision of 1 billion USD loan guarantees from the U.S. Government this year after two similar ones in May 2014 and May 2015, the U.S. Secretary of Commerce informed: “This loan guarantee demonstrates our confidence in Ukraine’s commitment to implement vitally important economic and anti-corruption reforms”.
The meeting was also attended by the U.S. business representatives.
