President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has held a phone conversation with Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel.
The parties have discussed the security situation in Donbas. The President has expressed concern over the provocations by Russian militants, particularly the use of heavy armament despite the ceasefire announced on September 1.
The parties have agreed to intensify diplomatic efforts within the Trilateral Contact Group and the Normandy format in order to fulfill the security part of the Minsk agreements.
The President has expressed gratitude to the German and French parties for their committed position on the application of sanction pressure on Russia until full restoration of sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
Petro Poroshenko and Angela Merkel have underlined the importance of liberating all hostages, including those illegally detained in Russia.
Diplomatic advisor of the French President has also taken part in the conversation pursuant to the instruction of Francois Hollande.
