Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Kostiantyn Yelisieiev informed on the results of the President’s visit to the United States at the press briefing.
He reminded that the President of Ukraine had delivered a speech at the UN General Assembly’s session, the UN Summit on refugees and held over 20 bilateral meetings. “The key purpose was to provide objective information on the situation in Donbas and Crimea, inform on the course of reforms and efforts in that direction of the Ukrainian President, underscore problems topical for our state and global security, particularly the increase and prolongation of sanctions against Russia, liberation of Ukrainian hostages and assistance to IDPs,” the Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration noted.
The Head of State also took part in the UN Security Council session on Syria where he focused the attention on the necessity of reforming the UN Security Council. “The events in Syria are a direct consequence of Russian aggressive policy,” Kostiantyn Yelisieiev reminded the Ukrainian position expressed by the President.
The Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration noted the importance of meetings with the U.S. leadership - President Barack Obama, Vice President Joseph Biden, candidate for President Hillary Clinton and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry. “Thus, we have enhanced strategic dialogue and partnership with Washington,” Kostiantyn Yelisieiev said. Besides, meeting with representatives of Jewish organizations of the United States has been held. They have been invited to attend the events on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Babyn Yar tragedy. According to the Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration, the events will be, inter alia, attended by the Presidents of Israel, Germany and European Council.
In the course of the visit to the U.S., the Head of State has also met with the Emir of Qatar, leadership of Saudi Arabia, President of Turkey and Prime Minister of Japan in order to inform them on the opportunities of investing in Ukraine and enhance trade-economic cooperation between the countries. “We have reached extremely important agreements that will be implemented by Secretary of the National Investment Council Borys Lozhkin pursuant to the instruction of the President,” Kostiantyn Yelisieiev stressed adding that Borys Lozhkin had also held a series of meetings with representatives of investment agencies and business environment of the United States.
