President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko had phone conversation with UK Prime Minister Theresa May

Theresa May has confirmed that the position of the United Kingdom as regards sanctions against Russia was unchanged: sanctions must remain until full implementation of the Minsk agreements.


President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has congratulated Theresa May on being appointed to the post of Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

The parties have discussed topical issues of bilateral and international cooperation in the context of the UK’s decision to leave the EU.

The President has expressed gratitude to the British Government for the firm position of support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Theresa May has confirmed that the position of the United Kingdom as regards sanctions against Russia was unchanged: sanctions must remain until full implementation of the Minsk agreements.
The UK Prime Minister has also underscored strong commitment to the policy of non-recognition of the annexation of Crimea by Russia.
The parties have expressed interest in expanding economic cooperation between Ukraine and the United Kingdom.
In the course of the conversation, the interlocutors have also discussed the continuation of British financial and expert assistance in the implementation of reforms in Ukraine and training of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Petro Poroshenko has invited Theresa May to make a visit to Ukraine.
