Ukrainians around the country dug
through their closets on May 19st to dig out their vyshyvankas – the traditional
embroidered shirt that is one of the country’s most recognizable symbols.
Celebrated on the third Thursday of every May since 2007, the celebration is
designed to preserve and promote Ukrainian values among the country’s youth and
general population.
A rich mixture of events typically mark this event.
