The Ministry of Agrarian
Policy and Food of Ukraine works on defining the basic development directions for
agriculture sector in 2016, with operating title "3+5". The
support of international donor organizations is extremely important for
implementation of these priorities. Taras Kutovyi, the Minister of
Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, stressed during the meeting with donor
organizations, international experts, representatives of foreign Embassies in
Ukraine and international financial institutions.
The Minister stressed that
transparency and visible deliveries are top priorities: «We`ll work
transparently, openly and in public. We`ve determined three major issues to
concentrate: the development of rural areas focused on small and medium
business, land and institutional reform», Taras Kutovyi stressed.
Furthermore, the Minister
added 5 priority directions: development of domestic and regional markets as
well – niche crops and organic production.
«The key task is preparation
of state-owned enterprises to privatization program, we try to attract and
implement the best world practices and have to consider the rights of farmers», Taras Kutovyi said.
The Minister noted another
priority direction – the irrigation, especially in the Southern regions.
«Considerable attention must be given to ensure the SPSA (The State Service of
Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection) full functioning», the Minister
added.
Taras Kutovyi noted
the institutional reform for the Ministry and the Central Executive Authorities
is needed to implement the abovementioned initiatives. Donors reaffirmed the
full support to Agriculture sector.
Nicolas Verlet, the
Chairman of the Agriculture team of the Support Group for Ukraine at the
European Commission, assured the Minister in full support from donor side. «We
are glad to have a mutual understanding and constructive dialogue with
representatives of the Ministry. The specific results are very important for
these directions. The donor organizations are ready to support you not only
during the first 100 days in the Government, but in future too», Nicolas Verlet summed
up.
