Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Yaroslav Romaniuk has authorized the arrest of three judges who had ruled on high-profile cases during the regime of Viktor Yanukovych.
Serhiy Vovk, Viktor Kitsyuk, Oksana Tsarevych. Last Monday night, the Verkhovna Rada had obtained the consent for their arrest authorized by Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Voting on the issue will take place in the next few days.
Tsarevych had been a member on the panel of judges ruling on the first case of former Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko. Kitsyuk and Tsarevych had been forensic investigators of the murder case of Yevhen Shcherban when a charge was brought against Yulia Tymoshenko. Vovk had ruled on the case of Lutsenko, according to the website.
Attorney General Viktor Shokin has initiated resignations of these judges before the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine.
