The Ukrainian
authorities plan to start the mass privatization of state enterprises this
year, Finance Minister Natalie Jaresko told reporters on Thursday.
"[This
means] privatization of everything that can be privatized and we plan to start
it this year," she said.
Jaresko
said that the Economic Development and Trade Ministry is drawing up a new
program on state enterprise management and the resulting document is to be
finished by late April.
Jaresko
said that at present there are 3,300 state enterprises in Ukraine and most of
them do not make profit, they do not pay taxes or dividends, and the state
spends budget funds to support them.
She said
that the successful sale of 3G licenses to mobile communications operators
showed that privatization could be conducted in Ukraine.
