Law №156-VIII, adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on February 5 defines the legal, economic, social, environmental, human and organizational framework of regional policy as part of the internal policy of Ukraine.
The law creates a legislative framework for the implementation of the new state regional policy, which should cover a much greater range of issues than just the support of regional development.
In particular, the document contains the definition of objectives, principles and priorities of regional policy; State Regional Development Strategy; powers of the subjects of regional policy; defines the principles of financial support and monitor the implementation of regional policy.
