The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, with the support of the Kyiv School of Economics, continues to work with businesses to update the list of available investment projects. Based on the results of the work, a list of the most promising projects will be formed, which will be presented at the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2024 in Berlin.
"Last year, the conference on the restoration of Ukraine in London brought together hundreds of investors from around the world, heads of state and heads of governments, international organizations and financial institutions. The biggest achievement of the event was the announcement of the Ukraine Facility - a 50 billion euro EU support program for Ukraine. And now we are already on the finish line for the launch of the program.
The Ukrainian economy has great potential for development - integration with the EU and the green transition create new opportunities for Ukrainian companies. It is important for Ukraine to develop the real sector of the economy, and the main role in this will be played by the private sector. The recovery conference opens up new opportunities for forming partnerships and attracting investments, so that Ukrainian business receives an impetus for growth and integration into international markets," said Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Volodymyr Kuzyo.
He added that some of the companies that offer the most developed and promising investment projects will be able to join URC 2024 and represent Ukraine at the conference. In addition to being presented at the URC, the formed base of investment projects will be used to determine priorities for financing, in particular by international financial organizations.
Currently, the Government, together with European partners, is developing a mechanism for the operation of the Ukraine Facility investment component. The program, with a volume of about 7 billion euros, provides a risk reduction mechanism available to investors in priority sectors, which will allow attracting about 30 billion euros for business in Ukraine. Companies will be able to attract financing through the EBRD, EIB, other international financial institutions and Ukrainian banks. Having an up-to-date portfolio of investment projects will allow us to prioritize needs and include appropriate funding in the program.
Coordination of work with business will be carried out by the Kyiv School of Economics. The received proposals will be processed in partnership with leading consulting companies. The final list of projects is planned to be formed by May 1, 2024.
