President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed laws necessary for the
establishment of the visa-free regime between Ukraine and the European Union.
The President submitted the laws for consideration by the Verkhovna Rada as
urgent. The Parliament adopted them on February 18, 2016. The main purpose of
the laws is to ensure the fulfillment of anti-corruption criteria necessary for
the abolition of the visa regime with the EU, particularly seizure of property
and procedures of the institute of special confiscation, the activity of the
National Agency of Ukraine for Detection, Search and Management of Assets
Derived from Corruption and Other Crimes, as well as the functioning of the
Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.
Consultations on the law on electronic declarations are being continued
with the European Commission in order to elaborate possible amendments. The
President believes these amendments would meet the best European practice.
The Head of State calls for an immediate appointment of the composition of
the National Agency for Prevention of Corruption and its proper functioning.
