The
claims that Naftogaz has filed with the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm
Chamber of Commerce seeking compensation for losses from a gas purchase
contract and amendments to a gas transport contract with Gazprom exceed $16
billion, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk said.
"In half a year after the Arbitration [Institute]
was addressed for the first time on the [gas] transport contract, leading
international experts and lawyers have done a considerable amount of work in
order to prove clearly that the transport contract is unfair to Ukraine and
that Gazprom must pay over $10 billion to Naftogaz in compensation for
losses," Yatseniuk said on Facebook on Friday.
"Therefore, the overall amount of our claims
against Gazprom concerning a gas purchase contract and a [gas] transport
contract has already exceeded $16 billion," he said.
