"I will
not allow further politicization of companies, state-owned companies to feed
politicians and political parties," said Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy
Yatsenyuk at a special meeting of the Government on Friday, March 18, which was
focused on the report on results of check of financial and economic
indicators of the key state-owned companies.
Arseniy
Yatsenyuk has stressed that now Ukraine is facing "a terrible struggle for
the state-owned companies": "There is a war for the flows in order to
"privatize" a particular company or appoint its manager for this
company. Everyone who stands with slogans against corruption, then
comes through the back door and asks to appoint this or that person. "
The Prime
Minister has pointed out that there is "strong resistance to the
competitions for the appointment of heads of state-owned companies only with a
view to further control the flows."
"There
is a war against those leaders who are fighting for transparency,"
underlined Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
The main
issue, he stressed, is not just to check the activities of companies or change
their CEOs: "One has been changed, came another and keeps on doing the
same things."
"It is
necessary, first, to change the system, and secondly - to bring criminal
charges and to prosecute (for abuse. - Ed), otherwise it will never end. Names
will change, names of companies will change, political parties, leaders, prime
ministers, presidents as well - but the system will stay the
same," said the Prime Minister.
Arseniy
Yatsenyuk has instructed the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Economy to the
results of today's meeting of the Government to develop a new control and
responsibility system for state-owned companies: "It is essential for us
to have a completely transparent system of control for the state-owned companies
."
