President Petro Poroshenko noted that his visit to Turkmenistan opened
new opportunities for Ukrainian companies in the cooperation between the two
countries.
“When Russia closes markets for our products, we must make every effort
for Ukrainian producers and exports to be present in their traditional markets
where they are well-known and enjoy good reputation,” the Head of State said
adding that the Ukrainian economy would now receive new opportunities.
Commenting on the results of the visit, the Head of State noted: “We had
no cooperation in agricultural machinery production before. The situation with
power engineering was disastrous. There were no offices, spare parts and
opportunities to ensure routine maintenance”. According to the President, the
number of Ukrainian companies in Turkmenistan will be increased.
The Head of State shared his impressions from the visit. According to
him, the parties have reached an agreement on major infrastructure projects
that will engage Ukrainian contractors. “Ukrainian companies earned reputation
of reliable partners and credibility in the world,” the President said.
Petro Poroshenko informed that offices of Ukrainian heavy mechanical
engineering companies would be opened in Turkmenistan. “The visit is successful
and we can be proud of it,” the Head of State noted.
The President stressed that Turkmenistan was a bridge for Ukraine to
broaden industrial cooperation and trade with such countries as Afghanistan and
Iran. He announced his intention to visit Turkmenistan once again in 2016.
Also, the Head of State informed that present large-scale infrastructure
projects with participation of Ukraine would be expanded. The possibility of
participation of Ukrainian builders in the construction of the subway in the
capital of Turkmenistan is being discussed.
