President of Ukraine had a phone conversation with President of the United States

The Ukrainian and U.S. Presidents discussed the latest developments in Donbas, particularly after the attack on Ukrainian forces near Maryinka which is a gross violation of the Minsk agreements.

Petro Poroshenko and President Obama agreed that the full implementation of the Minsk agreements was the key to peace in Donbas.

The parties coordinated their positions on the eve of the meeting of G7 leaders to be held in Germany on June 7.  They specifically discussed the issue of continued pressure on Russia via sanctions with the aim of making Russia and the militants it backs fulfill their Minsk commitments.

President Obama took the opportunity to reiterate U.S. support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.  He also praised President Poroshenko's leadership in implementing reforms and achieving tangible results in this sphere.

President Poroshenko thanked President Obama for the substantial U.S. assistance in strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities via joint training and called for further cooperation.
