Constitutional Court allows canceling parliamentary immunity (updated)

The Constitutional Court of Ukraine has sustained the bill on withdrawal of parliamentary immunity.
Chairman of the Constitutional Court Yuri Baulin announced this on Friday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
The bill also limits the immunity of judges.
The court agreed that the abolition of the parliamentary immunity does not restrict human and civil rights guaranteed by the Constitution. Also, the bill provides for the transfer of authority to give permission for the arrest of the judges from the Verkhovna Rada to the Supreme Council of Justice that will contribute to greater objectivity of this process, the Constitutional Court expects. "If the bill is adopted, MPs will be held accountable on a common basis," Baulin said.
