American billionaire philanthropist George Soros believes that the EU ignores the financial position of Ukraine. He urged Brussels allocate Kyiv additional funding.
In an interview with BBC 84-year-old philanthropist said that Europe is too busy solving the financial problems of Greece.
Mr. Soros believes that it would be better to encourage Ukrainian, tending to Europe and confront the threat from Russia.
"This is a country of over 40 million people who want to be Europeans, and who really want to stand up and fight, sacrificing their lives, and Europe ignores them. This is a terrible, terrible mistake on the part of Europe. And because Europe has to wake up until too late "- George Soros said.
Earlier financier Ukraine appreciated the need for financial assistance to 50 billion dollars.
Two weeks ago, the IMF decided to grant Ukraine 17.5 billion dollars as part of a four-year aid program. As stated by the head of the IMF Christine Lagarde, together with funds from other lenders Ukraine may receive up to 40 billion dollars.
