During its most terrible periods, 17 people died every minute in Ukraine, over a thousand every hour!

It was a carefully planned crime. People were not only deprived of food - they were isolated to deprive them of any chance of salvation. Even letters in which peasants asked for help were intercepted.

The Holodomor covered 22 regions of Ukraine. The villages of Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Poltava regions suffered the most.

My grandmother Evdokia was the only survivor of a family where her parents and 11 brothers and sisters died of hunger. When she told me about it as a child, I perceived it as a terrible legend…

For decades, the Soviet Union, and then Russia, tried to erase from history the facts about the brutal attempt to destroy our nation. About the genocide of Ukrainians.

But we remember. And we know the truth.

Today's war is a continuation of Russia's aspirations to destroy Ukraine and Ukrainians.

But we are strong and we are fighting! The aggressor did not break our spirit, did not conquer Ukraine. And every crime of the barbarians will be punished!

A bright memory to all Ukrainians tortured by hunger!

And glory to those who today oppose a new genocide!
