Vicarious embarrassment or the role of personality

 

Events, speeches and actions of people in modern politics evoke in me Vicarious embarrassment or Spanish shame. This feeling of embarrassment comes from observing the embarrassing actions of congressmen and other American politicians in relation to American aid to Ukraine.

This feeling of embarrassment also comes from watching the Pope call for Ukrainians to take courage and enter into negotiations with Russia under a white flag. We must remind the Pope that Ukrainians have already proven their courage in two years of war. And it wouldn’t hurt to ask the Pope where his courage was when the Russians wiped out the Ukrainian city of Mariupol from the face of the earth.

This feeling of embarrassment also comes from watching Trump and his speeches. Don't Trump voters understand that Trump will be the last president of the United States?

It’s unpleasant to admit this, but a significant part of the modern Western political establishment includes people whose scale does not correspond to the scale of the events that are happening before our eyes.

The conformity and indecisiveness of political leaders have led to the fact that Putin and his entourage, who are essentially an ordinary gang with nuclear weapons, are successfully destroying the world law and order. Moreover, they have successfully formed an axis of evil where the Houthis cut cables and fire on ships.

The war between civilization and barbarism has entered a decisive stage. Civilization will either win or cease to exist. Exactly. Victory or death!

Oddly enough, French President Emmanuel Macron was the one who changed. Macron's transfiguration is his painful evolution from currying favor with Putin to assuming the role of leader of the free world. It is hoped that other politicians will follow him!
