President: EU to counter the “crawling annexation” of the Sea of Azov by Russia jointly with Ukraine

"I welcome the approval of an important resolution of the European Parliament on the situation in the Sea of Azov. The Russian aggressor must understand that all its actions breaking the international law and bilateral agreements will continue to receive a decisive and adequate response from the democratic community," President Petro Poroshenko noted on his Facebook page.
The Head of State stressed: "The European Union, together with Ukraine, will counteract the “crawling annexation” of the Sea of Azov by Russia and violation of the freedom of navigation".

The President noted that he highly appreciates the support of the European Parliament for the initiative to assist Ukrainian ports and implement projects of socio-economic support for the Ukrainian Pryazovya. "I am grateful to the European Parliament for calling for additional targeted sanctions for the Kremlin's aggressive actions in the Sea of Azov and the Kerch Strait. I hope for the practical implementation of these initiatives by the institutions and the EU member states," Petro Poroshenko said.
The Head of State also added that he would coordinate further joint actions with a view to protect the national interests of Ukraine in the course of the upcoming meetings with European leaders.
