Poland to launch railway service for Ukrainians travelling to Berlin

Polish-based PKP Intercity plans to launch a direct railway service between Przemyśl and Berlin in 2018 in view of growing traffic on the eastern border of Poland and the migration of Ukrainian citizens to EU countries.

"Ukrainian routes have turned out to be a hit. Trains from Przemyśl to Lviv and Kyiv transport more and more passengers each year. For the first five months, we had as many passengers as last year, when the number of travelers doubled. Obviously, we will see another two-fold increase in the number of passengers from the east," President of the Board of PKP Intercity Marek Chraniuk was quoted as saying by Ukraine's Center for Transport Strategies (CTS), referring to Poland's Rynek kolejowy news portal about the railway industry.
