New Ombudsperson appointed in Ukraine

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has voted in support of MP Lyudmila Denisova (Popular Front) to become the country's Human Rights Commissioner. In a speech before the vote, Denisova noted that in Ukraine, the right to life requires top priority protection, according to an UNIAN correspondent. She assured that she would make every effort to protect the rights of the Crimean Tatar people and, in general, all those who need protection.
