Ireland warns tech groups over new EU data rules

Ireland’s data regulator has warned some of the world’s largest social media groups of big fines if they break tough new privacy laws from Brussels.Helen Dixon also rejected the idea that her agency would be unable to handle its role, saying its budget had been beefed up to oversee the scores of multinational tech companies that have made Ireland their European base.
