In the framework of the 48th annual session of the World Economic Forum in Davos, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko held a meeting with IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde.
“It is very important for us to continue cooperation with IMF now, in 2018, as it is not only trust of the international financial organizations related to the macro-financial assistance from the EU, cooperation with the World Bank, but also trust of the investors,” the President emphasized following the negotiations with the IMF Managing Director.
“I am grateful to our partners from IMF for a very strong message of support for Ukraine,” the Head of State noted.
Petro Poroshenko also thanked Christine Lagarde for an efficient cooperation over the past year. “I am very pleased with the last 6 months, when we introduced many reforms. Today, we agreed to continue efficient cooperation in various spheres and fulfill everything we agreed on today and in the past. I am grateful for a very strong and efficient cooperation,” he said.
In turn, IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde emphasized: “I am pleased with very productive negotiations with President Poroshenko and his team members”. She emphasized that it had given a chance to take stock of all the measure that had already been taken.
Christine Lagarde noted: “Hopefully, the other measures, the implementation of which we have discussed and the planning of which we have discussed and will continue to work on together, will lead us to the completion of the review that is currently pending”.
“I was particularly appreciative of the imminent appointment of an independent and permanent governor of the Central Bank of Ukraine, which is very much needed,” she stressed.
