Ukraine's National Police chief Dekanoidze resigns – media

Chief of Ukraine's National Police Khatia Dekanoidze has resigned, the Obozrevatel media outlet reported, citing sources.

Dekanoidze was appointed to the post on November 4, 2015. Prior to that, she was advisor to Interior Minister Arsen Avakov. According to the report, her deputy Vadym Troyan has been appointed Acting Chief of the National Police.




In Georgia, Dekanoidze served as principal of the Police Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs from 2007 to 2012. From July to October 2012, she was Minister of Education and Science of Georgia. As UNIAN reported earlier, Head of Odesa Regional State Administration Mikheil Saakashvili announced on November 7 that he had resigned from his post. On November 9, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko signed a letter of resignation submitted by Saakashvili.
